Little Friends of Jesus
Tid-bits from Administration
On January 5th, we said goodbye to Ms. Laura. She is currently working at New China Restaurant and looking to continue her education. She will be missed.
Ms. Stephanie took over as the Lead Learner Teacher on January 1. We look forward to seeing the many talents that Ms. Stephanie will bring to the center.
We are currently looking for an Assistant Teacher. If you know of anyone that would be interested, please have them call me at my office, 715-682-6075.
Monthly Newsletter Winner
Congratulations to the Litersky/Rauschenbach family for correctly spotting our error in last month’s newsletter. The error was in the “Preschool News” section of the newsletter. “tropicl” was suppose to be “tropical”.
Can you spot the mistake this month? If you find it, circle our goof, or jot it down on a piece of paper and put it in the payment box. Be sure to include your name! You could be this month’s winner of a $10 credit on your account.
Parent’s Open House
In accordance with our state licensing requirements, LFOJ will be holding an open house on Tuesday, February 20 for any parents that want to meet with the staff. This is an opportunity for you to meet with your child’s caregiver to discuss any questions or concerns you may have. Staff will be available by appointment only, starting at 5:30 p.m. A sign-up sheet will be posted on the main bulletin board, upstairs, above the parent sign-in sheets.
Season of Lent
Lent begins February 14th. The season of Lent is often observed as a time for Christians to examine their lives and strengthen their faith as we prepare for Easter.
If you do not have a church home, please consider joining us Wednesday evenings at Zion. Soup and sandwiches are served in the basement at 5:00 p.m. with worship set for 6:30 p.m.
LFOJ will be hosting the Lent soup and sandwich supper on Wednesday, March 7th. Please join us and support the center.
Hello from the Infant/Toddler room. This month our theme is “Jesus Grows and I Grow Too!” We will learn about Jesus as a little boy and also about Valentine’s Day. I will be sending home a class list if you choose to send Valentines with your child.
We have one Birthday this month. Lucas V. turns two on February 6. Happy birthday Lucas!
Just a friendly reminder, please check your child’s cubby for forms that need updating. Please return them in a timely manner, as most of them are required by the State.
We’ve been so busy learning, playing and creating in the Learner room that January flew right by. In February we will be learning about sharks, St. Valentine and oceans. We will still be focusing on The Creation for sharks but will switch to Jonah and the Whale for oceans.
Thank you so much for limiting items brought from home and labeling everything. It has really cut down on missing belongings.
Don’t forget to keep sending winter gear. If it’s above zero, we go outside.
The kids have been expressing a desire to help others. An easy way to do that is to participate in the monthly mission projects at Zion. For the month of February, we will be collecting donations for the BRICK. We will have a collection box at the center. You could let your child pick out something the next time you are at the grocery store.
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
I Corinthians 13: 4-7
The new year is already flying by! I’m sure that February will be no different, considering it is a short month. Looking ahead, we will have a month full of fun activities for the children.
Thank you so much to Noah’s grandfather, Chip Houle, for bringing a grader for show and tell last month. Our 4/5 year old children really enjoyed getting an up close look at how our city keeps our streets safe in the winter.
It is our hope to finish up preschool progress reports and have them ready to be distributed the first week of the month. Parents will have the opportunity to meet one on one with preschool staff during the upcoming parent/teacher conferences Tuesday, February 20th. A sign-up sheet will be available to schedule appointments upstairs on the main bulletin board in the Learner Room. If the day or times available do not work for you, please let us know and we can make different arrangements for you.
This month, we welcome Presley Nuutinen to preschool. Ms. Presley is in the early childhood program at WITC and will be completing her second practicum in preschool on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Many of the childcare clients will be familiar with Ms. Presley as she works upstairs as a child care assistant.
Kicking off our new month, we will be heading “Down On The Farm”. There will be lots of activities revolving around this theme. Our Bible story for the week will be about the parable of the lost sheep.
The following week we will focus on love and friendship. The children are welcome to exchange Valentines and/or individually wrapped treats with their classmates. A class list is on the back of this month’s calendar. We will be sending home oatmeal containers for the children to make their own unique Valentine holder next week. More info to come regarding that! Our Bible story for the week will be Jesus command to love one another. We will be attending Chapel with Pastor Rick on the 13th and 14th to talk about Ash Wednesday and Lent.
February is dental health month. We will be learning about oral hygiene using materials from Colgate, and an animated rabbit dentist named Dr. Brushwell. Just a reminder that there will be no preschool on Monday, February 19th, as we observe Presidents’ Day.
The last week of the month we will dive into the silly world of Dr. Seuss as we prepare for this beloved children’s author on March 2nd.
Let us be witnesses of Jesus commandment from John 13:34 this month. Love one another as I have loved you.
Ms. Amy & Ms. Julie
